Greg Oden remains a possibility for the Cavaliers after the trading deadline — but how long after the trading deadline appears to be anyone’s guess.
According to a blurb in the Yahoo! Sports power rankings, the Cavs remain the frontrunners to sign the former Ohio State center and No. 1 overall draft pick. However, the report also stated that Oden’s agent, Mike Conley Sr., indicated Oden won’t sign with a team until the off-season.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Plain Dealer later tweeted Conley said the possibility of Oden signing before the season ends “is still up in the air.” (See below.)
Clearly, this is a lot of fuss over a guy who’s undergone three microfracture knee surgeries and hasn’t played an NBA game since December 2009. But Oden is still a 7-footer and if he can get and stay healthy, he just may prove to be a free-agent steal.
