Ohio University’s basketball game Wednesday night vs. Eastern Michigan has been canceled due to the campus being closed.
The school shut down operations for the day after an armed robbery took place on campus Wednesday morning. The suspect remains at large.
At 12:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Ohio posted the following statement on its website: “In light of the fact that the armed fugitive that was spotted in the Athens campus vicinity has not been apprehended, the President has decided as a precautionary measure to close the Athens campus. All classes are cancelled, all students will be asked to return to their residences, and all non-essential employees should return home Unless notified otherwise, classes and normal work activities will resume Thursday at their normal times.”
The game will likely be made up at a later date. Ohio will remain 6-0 in MAC play heading into a nationally-televised first-place showdown with Akron.
