The Canton Charge have acquired former NBA first-round draft pick JaJuan Johnson from the Fort Wayne Made Ants in exchange for Luke Harangody and a third-round pick in the 2013 D-League draft, team officials announced Friday.
Johnson, a 6-foot-10 power forward, was selected by the Boston Celtics with the No. 27 overall pick in 2011. He played in 36 games with the Celtics last season, averaging 3.2 points and 1.6 rebounds off the bench. He was then traded to Houston over the summer, but was waived by the Rockets shortly thereafter.
The Mad Ants selected Johnson with the first overall pick in the D-League draft Nov. 2. He started all 13 games, averaging 13.2 points and 8.9 rebounds.
Harangody, a former member of the Cavs and Celtics, was picked up by the Charge on Friday via a “waiver preference,” before being traded.
