Strong Ohio ties on Cousy Award list

By Zac

The state of Ohio is well represented on the list of nominees for the Cousy Award.

With more than 80 nominees, lots of states are represented, actually. It’s just that Ohio is especially well represented.

Named for Basketball Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic Bob Cousy, the award annually goes to college basketball’s top point guard. The initial list will be narrowed to 20 in January, then to 10 in February, then to five by March 1. The winner will be announced at the Final Four.

Representing Ohio on the initial nominee/watch list…

Kevin Dillard, Dayton
D.J. Cooper, Ohio
Aaron Craft, Ohio State
Trey Burke, Michigan (Columbus)
Pe’Shon Howard, Maryland (Cleveland)
Kendrick Perry, Youngstown State
C.J. McCollum, Lehigh (Canton)

Burke and McCollum are strong candidates to eventually be on the list of the five finalists.
