More Youngstown Cardinal Mooney High School alumni are making headlines in the college coaching business.
Nebraska offensive grad assistant Vince Marrow has accepted the tight ends coach position on new head coach Mark Stoops’ staff at Kentucky. That means Marrow, a Mooney alum, leaves the staff of another Mooney alum (Bo Pelini) for yet another. Stoops accepted the Kentucky job after serving as Florida State’s defensive coordinator.
That also means two Pelinis (Bo and Carl, at Florida Atlantic) and two Stoops (Bob at Oklahoma and Mark) are now head coaches at the Div. I FBS level.
The Lincoln Journal-Star wrote that Marrow played a key recruiting role at Nebraska and had been instrumental in securing five verbal commitments from Ohio for the 2013 class, including Mooney players Marcus McWilson and Courtney Love. Marrow played eight seasons in the NFL before getting into coaching.
FOXSportsOhio.com also learned Wednesday that Nebraska recently offered a scholarship to 2014 Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary linebacker Newman Williams.
