Charge fall to Ants despite Jones’ best efforts

By Sam Amico

Kevin Jones is continuing to dominate for the Canton Charge, but the Cavaliers’ D-League affiliate still has yet to capitalize. Jones scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the visiting Charge fell to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 86-75, on Wednesday night.

The loss was the Charge’s third straight to open the season.

Jones, a 6-foot-8 forward out of West Virginia, was not selected in the NBA Draft last June. He attended training camp with Cavaliers and was among the final cuts before the regular season started.

Jones is averaging 28.5 points and 15.0 rebounds in three games with the Charge.

Former NBA forward JuJuan Johnson tallied 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Mad Ants (1-3). Johnson was the No. 1 overall pick in the D-League draft earlier this month.

The Charge return to action Friday at home vs. Erie.
