NBA teams that have come back from 3-1 deficits

By Sam Amico

Chicago, Orlando and Memphis are facing some pretty steep odds. Each trails its seven-game series in the first round of the NBA playoffs, 3-1. And while no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit, a few have managed to win three straight. Not many, but a few.

Here are the times it‘s happened:

1968 – Boston Celtics over Philadelphia 76ers, East finals

1970 – L.A. Lakers over Phoenix Suns, West finals

1979 – Washington Bullets over San Antonio Spurs, East finals

1981 – Boston Celtics over Philadelphia 76ers, East finals

1995 – Houston Rockets over Phoenix Suns, West semifinals

1997 – Miami Heat over New York Knicks, East semifinals

2003 – Detroit Pistons over Orlando Magic, East first round

2006 – Phoenix Suns over L.A. Lakers, West first round

Today, Philadelphia holds a 3-1 lead over Chicago. Indiana is doing the same vs. Orlando, and the L.A. Clippers are doing the same vs. Memphis.
